Which guru is the one with all the answers?

Oh there’s no doubt there are plenty of great internet marketers with tons of knowledge to pass on. The problem is how much knowledge is too much to begin? How much knowledge leads to information overload thus keeping you from taking immediate and meaningful action?

Eben Pagan has said that speed of implementation is one of the most important keys to success. Taking that as a starting point and learning from your mistakes quickly probably outweighs any value in studying over and over the past successes of the gurus - while neglecting taking any real action.

Fail often and fail quickly. Learn quickly, test constantly and make changes. There is enough free information available online to give you a head start. I’d recommend that you search for information written by John Reese, Frank Kern and Eben Pagan in particular.

As time goes on and your experience increases, you can then branch out and search for more articles, blog posts, PDF files and videos from other respected internet marketing gurus.

Start with market research. Find the market first …product and services later. Use the search tools available at Google, Amazon, eBay, and Yahoo! to to hone in on your market. Don’t invest a lot of time in any web project until you’ve seen if an appropriate market exists.

You must be able to clearly identify your potential customer. What are they looking for? In what forums do they post questions and comments? What patterns do you see emerging? What are people searching for and seemingly not finding answers to their questions?

Find a market with the need and fulfill that need. Whether you create a product, outsource it or find a distributor for an existing product that is not readily available - fulfill that need. Solve that problem. Answer that question.
